EZ Tag at Houston Airports Didn’t Take Off

The EZ Tag program at Houston Airports has not had enough users for the program to earn money.  See the article here.  It costs $170,000 a month to run it and gets only about $90,000 a month coming in from users.

I know some people will be upset by this change, and that is understandable.  We want an easy process for both Houstonians and visitors when using any Houston airport; however, I do have to say that I am impressed by the Harris County commissioners for finding something that doesn’t work and getting rid of it.  They didn’t look to increase the costs to us.  I don’t know how much they researched the reasons why it wasn’t being used as anticipated, but at least they aren’t going to continue throwing money into something that doesn’t work.
